Accommodation - SotM-EU - Accommodation

Karlsruhe hotels are generally not too expensive and it should be easy for anyone coming to SOTM-EU to find a place that appeals to them. Almost all hotels have some ratings on TripAdvisor and are bookable through standard portals.

We have reserved rooms in two hotels ("Rio" and "Kübler") and a few beds at the Youth Hostel; these are shown with a pink tint (Hotel2 Star 48) in the map below. To book these rooms you will have to contact the hotels/hostels directly, and not go through any of the web booking services. See below for the prices and how long the reservation is good for.

Note: Due to tram construction works during the conference weekend, some of the travel distances in this table had to be changed. You will get to the Europaplatz station on the tram lines E1 and E2. See "Getting There" for details.

Youth Hostel Youth Hostel € 300m The Youth Hostel is literally on campus and we have asked them to reserve a few beds for conference visitors, however they're well booked and Thursday night might already be sold out. ~€23 for a bed in a room sleeping 4 or 6. The usual requirement for YHA membership is lefted if you mention SOTM conference.
Kuebler Kübler €€ 800m After the Youth Hostel, this is the accommodation nearest to the conference location. A hotel with some quirks, liked by some, disliked by others (see TripAdvisor ratings). We have reserved 50 standard rooms for €66 (single) or €82 (double). These rates include breakfast, and you have to book directly with the hotel (email/telephone/fax) to get them. Mention SOTM. They also have themed rooms (higher rates) for the adventurous.
Rio Rio €€ 1150m Excellent medium-priced hotel and one of those that are nearest to the conference location. We have reserved 50 single rooms and 5 double rooms. Prices: single €60 (€89 on Thursday), double €72 (€99 on Thursday), plus €6 p.p. for buffet breakfast. You have to book directly with them (email, fax, or phone) to get one of the reserved rooms. Arthotelroyal arthotelroyal €€ 2100m (tram: 1 stops + 1400m) A bit out of the ordinary but affordable (weekend single rooms €60). Busy street. Free Wifi.
Santo Santo €€ 2100m (tram: 2 stops + 1100m) Nice bar. Make sure to indicate non-smoking preference when booking. Good breakfast. Free Wifi.
Aviva Aviva €€ 2200m (tram: 5 stops + 1100m) A bit further out from the city centre, less busy, has a fitness area/spa. Free Wifi.
Novotel Novotel €€€ 2250m (tram: 4 stops + 1100m) Excellent upmarket chain hotel. Breakfast buffet is great but costs €18. Rooms are occasionally on special offer for as low as €60 but normal price is about €100.
Renaissance Renaissance €€€ 2300m (tram: 2 stops + 1400m) Excellent upmarket chain hotel (Marriott). Normal room rate is about ~€120.
Leonardo Leonardo €€ 2650m (tram: 4 stops + 1400m) Former Queens Hotel, 150 rooms, high-rise building with good views. Breakfast €12.
Bed And Breakfast Bed and Breakfast € 2700m (tram: 3 stops + 1100m) A privately run budget accommodation (~€25) with rooms sleeping 1-4.
